The California Documentary Project (CDP) supports film, video, radio, and new media projects that document the California experience and explore issues of significance to Californians. California Reads is a statewide program that aims to bring Californians together to explore important topics and engage with challenging issues through books that invite conversation. California Reads’ Public Library Grants are being offered to support participation in this program. This competitive grant opportunity is available to California public library jurisdictions and library support organizations. To coincide with CCH’s two-year statewide initiative to animate a public conversation on democracy and civic values leading into the 2012 elections, the theme of the current round of California Reads is Searching for Democracy.
