Photographers' Statement:
With this project we attempted to use photography as a way to deconstruct our local environment in order to show people details rarely appreciated. Mystery, palimpsest, serendipity, and transformation: utilizing these four themes forced us to pause and take notice of things that most of us would normally pass over. From an unkempt gravestone, to dried flower petals scattered across a concrete floor, to the meaning behind the street signs we see every day, we sought not to capture “beauty,” but rather the reality of this place.
