Boys and Girls Club members to interview local Bixby Knolls residents about their work and dramatize their stories
The Historical Society of Long Beach will train 30 students attending the local Boys and Girls Club to conduct oral history interviews of Bixby Knolls residents about their work.
After the interviews have been conducted, the students will work with local actors to learn how to dramatize the stories.
The public will have a chance to see the story reenactments, which will be performed by the actors as well as the students, during the Bixby Knolls Street Fair in June 2008. The oral histories will be housed in the Historical Society’s research center and available for use by scholars and others.
“The Historical Society of Long Beach just opened its new museum in the Bixby Knolls neighborhood of Long Beach, and collecting these stories will help us learn more about our new neighborhood and the people who live here,” said Project Director Julie Bartolotto, executive director of the Historical Society. “The stories will also be a valuable addition to our collection.”
