California Stories Uncovered

A new anthology of California writing.

In turns proud, angry, tragic and inspiring, this collection probes California as it is today – a place forever discarding the myths of its founding as it moved rapidly toward a future both perilous and promising.

Hear and feel this dynamic California in the words of established writers such as Joyhn Steinbeck, Maxine Hong Kingston and Joan Didion, as well as compelling new voices that real California in all its complexity.

A collaborative effort between CCH and Heyday Books, the anthology was edited by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, author of “Mistress of Spices,” among other novels, CCH’s Executive Director Jim Quay, and Heyday’s William Justice.

California Uncovered is available at bookstores and online. And now when you make a gift to the Council of $45.00, you’ll receive the book as our thank you gift.
